Governor Rod

(Latest Update). I removed the Carter TU Carburetor today on my Super C tractor to clean it and rebuild it. When I tore it apart I found that someone use Rubber Silicone on the Gasket. Then after I installed the Carburetor back on the Intake Manifold I went to adjust the Governor Rod, ( Throttle lever all the way forward and the governor rod moved for wide open Throttle ) with the Clevis screwed all the way out to the last thread on the rod, the rod is still to short. I guess I will have to make a new rod and find the right size Die to thread it.

Mine is cast iron or steel. It does not look anything like that one. Just my opinion, throw that Carter has far as you can and go buy a Zenith. A lot of problems will go away.

If my Farmall Super C has a Combine engine in it, that would explain a lot. The pulley on the front of the crankshaft has cross slots for a hand crank to engage in Four different positions , where all the other Super c's that I looked at has only Two positions for the hand crank to engage. Also my Engine has a pointer for the pulley for ignition timing. Also that would explain why the exhaust pipe, air filter tube, and the rocker cover tube are shorter then other Super c's that I have seen. The Number on the block behind the oil filter is 367826R2, as far as I can tell without removing the oil filter.

Carter carb will be just fine just do a god job on the repair job. How did that engine work with the rod going to the carb so far off are you sure you had the carb open when the throttle is fully advanced or maybe the lever on the throttle shaft has slipped that has happened. Some replacement carbs have that lever adjustable.

The governor has never worked right since I bought the tractor about 4 years ago. I'm sure I had the throttle Valve wide open, I also replaced the throttle shaft that was in the Carb Kit. I have been on Yesterdays tractor site a number of times for this problem in the past. One thing I was told was that I had a spring missing and when I installed a spring the RPM on the tractor ran wide open with the throttle lever all the way down on Idle, so I removed the spring and ran it that way for years and got by. The reason I decided to overhaul the Carb was, this spring the tractor started running worse, like it was running out of gas when mowing uphill. Thinking I was low on fuel I added some to the tank, but it sill ran bad going up hill. That's when I also thought it was a good time to check the Governor Rod adjustment.
