1947 Cub Lo Boy governor

I need to disassemble and clean the governor and bearings but I can"t figure out how to get it apart. I"d appreciate some advice before I mess it up!
Thanks,
Bob

May be a miss-print, but the Lo-Boy was not made in 1947, only a standard Cub. Lo-boy was not made until '55.

Sorry folks, I goofed. It is a 1966 Cub Lo Boy--the latest model with 12V battery ignition. I took the engine apart because it had hardly any compression and a serious carbon sludge problem--worst I've ever seen. Seems like the oil was never changed. I believe that I need to take the governor apart to clean it because, off the tractor, when you turn the drive gear, there is significant resistance. I fear that those little ball bearings in there are really sludged up. The service manual talks about how to clean the bearings, etc. But how do I get the dang thing apart? Thanks for your responses.

Nothing is holding it but the sludge and a friction fit. turn it with the gear down and bang the rim down against the corner of a workbench.Hold one hand under it to catch it, it will come out suddenly. When you reassemble, there is an index pin that has to be lined up.
