I agree, I never have trusted one front wheel. A flat, and you could be stuck way out in the field.

Would a flat on the single front wheel be any more awkward (being stuck in the field) than a flat on one of the rear wheels. A flat is a flat, without a spare (and tractors generally do not have them) still means that you do not go anywhere. To change the front to dual wheels is only undoing four bolts to change the fork to a pedestal

Funny You should mention a spare on a tractor.
I came up on a county mower today.
From aways off something looked odd about the mower.
When I got up to it, I saw a spare front tire
mounted on the back of the tractor.

The hydraulic system seems to be missing. If it is a stage II with live hydraulics some of the system is still missing. The price is about max with no hydraulic. The single wheel can be changed (as noted) easily. If there is a hydraulic pump on the other side in front of the distributor, it may be OK if the pump is OK. It needs to run well at the price with no Hydro. Jim

where can i see a pic with the hydraulics ?

oh, also my question is can i find the parts and convert it to a 4 wheel wide ? is it possible and or feasible ? or should i wait and get what i really want ?

The belly pump is located in the torque tube behind the engine and in front of the transmission.
Most of it is concealed inside on the left should be two pipe elbows, on the right should be one elbow and the control rod/lever. If there are no elbows, or if the elbows are there and not plugged, it may not have an operational Hydraulic pump. The pump casting is there, I just do not see the elbows. If the pump has oil in it, and that can be assessed by taking off the hydraulic cap on the right side under the gas tank (looks like a tall fat knob) there should be a wire on a washer dip stick with full mark. If not 8 inches to 9 inches down from the top of the threads should be oil. If oil and the ports are plugged, the control rod on the right should pull back OK then load the engine and pop back to the hold position if allowed to go. If it does that the hydro has a good chance of working. The two front elbows (one left and one right) are connected together inside and would act like a "T".
The left rear elbow is a delay circuit that is rarely used with modern attachments but was used with cultivators to allow the rear set to lift after the fronts. (other attachments were also set up to be delayed up and down.)Jim

well i just called the guy and he just sold it. waaaa the add was in for less than 24 hrs. i should have pounced.

I don't think its a genuine Super M, its a repaint with decals from a Super M, the brakes appear to be band style, should be disc, the front emblem is M, Supers had a square IH small emblem. You can convert from single to tricycle 2 wheel or wide front axle, just add the complete parts, no modification to steering or anything. They have the rear wheels on backwards.

No need to pounce! Definately not a SM. The sheet metal brake cover is a giveaway. All SM's had disk brakes. There's one on CL here too that is advertised as a SM but is not. Sometimes the seller doesn't know and sometimes they're a little bit crooked.

Easy to swap front end. You will need plenty of cribbing or fix up some stands to hold the front of the tractor off the ground.

However, even with no power steering, the single front is easy to steer.

The rear wheels can be dished in or out depending on what you want for spacing.

No, you didn't miss anything.

It wasn't a Super, like others have said.

ok, thanks everyone, i don't feel so bad now. and yes i learned a lot and i will be better prepared next time one comes along. i'll get a farmall one of these days. again, thanks for everyone's valuable knowledge. :)

I f you want a genuine Super, I have one that a friend brought home to restore, pretty straight, wide front, engine stuck but I haven't tried to free it yet. His neighbor cried to the County about too much "junk", was in danger of getting scrapped, so I drug it home- too nice for that. I have others that are keepers for me, just wanted to save this from China. Located in Napa
