Just had 986 engine major. back from shop ac not working. York compressor. I am wondering if they have suc. and liquid lines backwards. I thought suc.line was on left or to the outside of comp. can anyone enlighten me on this? They have liq. line on left. Thanks DTK.

Those compressors could be ordered with the ports in either configuration. If it's ever been replaced, and after 35 years, all bets are off as to which is which on your machine, but, typically the head is labelled "suc" and "dis" near the ports. Have a close look-see.
