MD headgasket oil leak

It appears to be very common to have a slight oil leak from the front right side of the head gasket on the gas start diesel engines. I was looking at my recently overhauled D264 last night and it appears I too may have this slight leak. My question is does it hurt anything to run them like this? Does the gasket eventually give out or does it just always weep? My tractor has just shy of 17k hours on it, so I am guessing it is not that big of a deal other than a slight mess.

TIA,
Dan

Look at the second page back MD spun Rod bearing Bruce S. The Post with Update is some of the answer, the post farther down is more.
Mine leaked and I cleaned it with laquer thinner and sealed it with a coating of urethane door and window sealer. I let it cure for 2 days and it stopped leaking (at least on the outside). As long as the head is getting lube, it will be fine. Jim

Head is probably warped from age and use. Have it milled flat again and it will seal right up with a new head gasket. A wraped head won't seal right even with a new head gasket, it will still seep fluids and fail again soon.
