steering wheel restoration

Has Minn-Kota come back in business or is there another place people are using now to restore steering wheels. This MTA needs it done.

Mine wsa cracked every few inches, but all the pieces were still attached. I bought a can of O"Reilly"s spray-on black truck bed coating, sprayed 6 or 8 coats and sanded lightly between coats, to remove the edges. Worked great; black, textured, tough, grippy, cheap, has lasted several years now, no changes. Like it a lot. .

My wheel is just steel, all the plastic is gone. I'd be great to get it restored, but might not be anyone out there reasonable in price.

The way things are nowadays, you could probably buy a repro for less than what it would cost you to get yours restored. They're readily available on ebay very reasonable. That's where I bought one. And even though it is probably made in china (what isn't), it looks and feels like the real deal to me. I don't know if you have considered that or not. But it's worth considering. IMHO

Click on "tractor parts" at the top of the this page, and I'm sure you'll find them right here.

I like to keep tractors as original as I can, but
I consider a steering wheel to be a "consumable".

Like tires and brake shoes.

If just a few cracks and you really want to save
it, you can use epoxy - mix gray and black epoxy
to get the right shade.

Fill the crack, quickly wipe it with alcohol.

Otherwise, just buy a new wheel - they're not all
that much, and the new ones are every bit as good
as the old ones.
