The casting with the gear on one side and the groove on the mag side. Are they the same for an H and M? I know the mags are the same but not sure if the gear will inter change each tractor.
Thanks oldiron29

I have not had an M but I think the timing gear is different at least on the H ones I have from what an M would be.

Zach, working on M, I am looking to remove a live pump and keep the tractor for work. So to replace the pump I will need the original drive. oldiron29

I just looked in my parts books, compared numbers and they have different part numbers for the H vs. the M.

H and M don't interchange and there is 2 different housing bolt patterns for both tractors.
Bolt patterns changed in 1950. There is a engine serial number break.
If you have a IH type pump bolted on with no modification you need a M or SM ignition drive casting with number 354951R1 on it.
