300 utility hydraulics dumb question

I had to replace the hydraulic lines in my 300 utility with hoses. I
just want to make sure I'm hooking them up right. The back fixture
on the pump goes to which fitting on the reservoir, the top or the
bottom? Sorry for the dumb question.

Did you look at them before you removed them? The suction hose should be different than the pressure. So unless each hose is exactly the same,it should be pretty self explanetary. The fittings should be different so they should only go together one way.Next time, draw a picture,I do that frequently.Helps with reassembly!

THAT"S what your cell phone is for!!! Most all of them now take fantastic pictures and it is in your pocket. Take careful pictures of everything as you go. I use it at work to document things that the idiots break so I can show management when the parts bills come in.

On my 350U (pretty much the same as a 300U) the tube from the inside fitting on the pump (the one nearest the engine) goes to the lower opening on the front of the reservoir. That's what I would go with. If you really want to be sure, maybe an exploded parts diagram will show it clearly.

I looked the Suction hose (bigger) is the inside toward the engine block and attaches to the lower port at the reservoir. It is suction and must be collapse resistant, the other smaller hose is pressure. Though the pressure is about 1200psi, a 3000psi rated hose is used.

yup to all above
fittings are different on stock issue
you got the steel lines still from the resivour?
or have they been replaced with flex hose?

Here's one of those "teach a man to fish" moments.

partstore.caseih.com has most of the parts books for most IH equipment online and available for the "common man" to reference.

Here's a diagram clearly showing the inner line from the pump running to the lower port on the hydraulic block:

My cell phone is a flip phone, no photos. But I hate to admit, I'm a photographer by trade, not a mechanic (obviously). See more www.glacierparkmagzine.com. Like I said, dumb question from a dumb mistake.
