Farmall Cub mower mounting

I have a Farmall cub and what appears to be a 42c mower (hexagon shaped) that I got when my step dad died. The mower was not installed on the cub when I got it. I spent all day Saturday mounting the mower only to find that the belt will not stay on. There was no belt when I got this so I bought a new one. I have no manual on the mower nor have I been able to find one. Obviously something is not right with pulley alignment or belt routing but I can"t tell just what. Anyone out there have tips or good quality pictures that would help? Thanks,

Go on line to Woods equipment site. You can download the parts and setup manual for just about any of the older Woods mowers. I just took a real nice one off a Cub that I'd sell for $175. I think all the shields are there also. Mike

Mine was throwing belts after I had it apart to fix a bearing or bushing in that idler pulley on the left. Come to find out there were two sets of holes and I picked the wrong ones. What I discovered is that the belt needs to be perfectly aligned from the drive pulley to the idler. It doesn"t take much misalignment to run the belt up onto the rim of the pulley and then you lose the belt. HTH

Thanks for the reply and the picture. My left side belt does not align straight down from the pto pulley like yours, I suspect that's the problem. Now to figure out why. I believe your mounts are different than mine.

Thanks for the link. I have downloaded and printed the manual. Perhaps this weekend I will have time to work on it again.
