C263 to C291 ?

Have a gentlemen that wants to turn his 706 with 263 into a
291 and didn"t know if the overhaul kits would fit. Years ago
our 560 years ago was overhauled this way with aftermarket
kit that fit right in. But didn"t know if those kits still available or if
block is going to have to be bored.

Ask for the tractor vet about doing it right. That means carb changes, dist work, good cooling system ,low ash oil etc. He is a guru on those old gals.Scott

If I am thinking rite block has to be Bored. I was gonna do that but never got arround to doing that. I did purchase a M&W add power sleeve and piston kit but never used it. It is the high compression lp set. I would sell them for $550.00 if you would be interested

To make a C263 into a C291 the block has to be bored . and the special sleeve for this has to be used . I have done a bunch and the results are amazing . But i get carried away on the rebuilds . When i say rebuild i mean rebuild . Line bored (not Honed ) deck is trued up crank is done if needed rods done both ends, head total rebuild and cam rebuild and blue printed with new lifters , rockers reground , Distributor recurved as when you go to 291 the total advance timing needs to be layed back to 19 degree Before TDC at full throttle . The main fuel jet needs to be opened up just a whisker like about .0015 . And if ya really want to gain a few pony's then ya have everything weighed and balanced . Then when you start to put the engine together you hand fit each piston to the hole your going to put it in and give .004 skirt to wall clearance . Now the big thing here if you want it to live a long and happy life then you must FEED it the prime rib of gas and use nothing but 93 octane . Now as the reason to run the low ash oil , if ya don't they will plum eat exhaust valves . My two closest fiends run C291 706 and they get the bag run off of them on a full time working farm . The 706's are the go to tractors when the weather turns cold as they have the power and weight to do what is needed . Will they use gas ??yes so does your pick up pulling a trailer . How much it will use depends on what your doing . I can mow rake twice 28 acres on one tank of gas with a 9 foot haybine on some of the nastiest ground you will ever want to put a tractor on . I farmed for several years with a late model 706 with a C291 and pulled a 710 4x16 plow and a 370 13.5 foot disc and never thought that it used to much gas same as my Massey 300 Combine .

Thanks for all the advice guys. He"s just looking at the tractor hasn"t bought it yet and not sure what he was wanting to spend money wise. That"s why I was checking. I"ll keep all this in mind and may be asking a few more questions later.
