400 rear axle hub bolts

I"m in the process of changing the rear axle seals on my 400 and finally got the second one done today. The problem is the 2 inside axle clamp bolts. I could not get them to turn at all even with a 3/4 ratchet with a 4 foot piece of pipe on it. I ran it over to the neighbors and cut the 2 bolts between the clamp and the wheel and figured they were froze in the clamp. Wrong! They are froze in the wheel and I can not turn them or drive them out . I guess I will have to remove the tire/rim and then cut the heads off and either drive or drill them out. I turned the ends out of the clamp with a pair of channel locks. I will wait until it has stopped snowing to finish it as it has to be outside to remove the rim/tire with the loader.

Try turning the wheel so the bolt heads are down and soak a rag in acetone and lay where the wedge was it may soak in around the bolts and loosen them,May not help the paint but if you heat it,that will burn the paint , I have used kroil on somethings stuck like that and it didn't help . I do want to know what does work for you. I am a southerners and have bad ideas at times. Thanks Jimmy

If you heat the heads of the bolts to red hot, then quench them with a hose, they will swell from the heat, be pliable enough to mold to the size of the rust, then when cool, shrink to an under size. This breaks the bond with the rust. using a impact wrench then rotates them and they come out. Jim

I have something called penetrating oil that I use for siezed up nuts and bolts. I used it on my left side lifter arm for the 3pt when disassembling it. Comes in a small enuff container that you can maneuver it where you need to and coat the area.
Good luck.
