I have a very old tire and the liquid inside is seeping through around or near the metal stem. Do I need to replace just the tire or do I need a rim also?

If the rim is not rusted all you need is a tube provided that the tire is still safe. At that time it is best to get rid of the calcium chloride, if that is what it is.

At a minimum you need to replace the tube, and thoroughly wash the inside of the tire to get all of the chloride out. Unless the additional traction is really needed, I'd have the chloride removed from the other tire too. Depending on how much rust you have around the valve stem the old rim can be repaired, or it may be cheaper to replace it. YT may have the part, check it out.

All the prior comments are correct.Consult a local (farm)tire store. They will have the answers you need.If the rim cant be saved(I'll bet it can),they can help repair it or get a replacement.

It's a very common repair - you'll have to weld in a patch with a new hole.

(weld with the tire removed)

Your tire shop might be able to do it for you if they deal with a lot of ag tires.

if the rim is just rusty and the rust has not eaten away the metal, i at the very least would paint the rim, prior to putting wheel etc back on tractor. paint inside and outside.

the valve stem/core is 2 parts. you may need only to replace that part.
