560 PS blew up!

While plowing the power steering valve blew and rained fluid out. I need to disc with this tractor as time is getting short. Can the lines be capped or would I have to route the pressure line into the return line? Just don't want to damage the pump or anything.

What do you mean by "it blew"???? The thing is all metal with a few o-rings in it.

Fix it and move on as there will be no oil in the steering gear if you by-pass it.

I had a chance to look over the front end this afternoon and can't see anything wrong-no broken lines. When this happend everything was covered with oil and dripping on the ground. The hitch would not raise and remotes were not functioning. This tractor had a problem with the steering turning fine to the right, but not all the way left.

If you ABSOLUTELY need it you could TRY disconnecting the lines going to it and loop a hose between both the lines you unhook and the diconnected fittings on the box. This will keep dirt out of the box and allow fluid to circulate as you strong man the steering wheel. This may also greatly decrease the other hyd functions because the priority valve will be supplying the max amount of fluid to ps lines you unhooked and looped. I'm not sure what the results would be if you capped the supply lines. I would not recommend that. With the expanse of the fields I've seen photos of in Oregon I can't fathom anyone try to farm there in this day and age with a 560. That said I spent my share of time in the seat of a variety of Farmalls all with less than 65 horse back on the farm in KS. Good luck!

Me thinks you need a manual.....the 560 has ONE reservoir and TWO pumps so you must must very low on oil if the main pump is not working.

One must find where the leak is in order to go back and find the cause.

Not going to tell you what to do , but you can loop the lines as previously stated by another poster. Loop the line from pump back to reservoir and loop the lines going into the steering. You will have plenty of lubricant in front steering for temporary use. You have two separate pumps inside, one for power steering is mounted piggy back on main pump so you will not lose any hydraulic capacity to operate your implements. No doubt you lost a lot of fluid and need to refill. Those power steering lines rust out under radiator quite often or even just blow the O-rings out from under the fitting. Several other places to blow also.
