Improved belly pumps?

No. The max pressure they can be reliably boosted to is about 800psi. Because they are not live pumps, and because they last, none are rebuilt (factory) and no replacement that I have ever heard of. Jim
 
It's been a long time ago, but I can remember Dad buying parts to rebuild them. Whether the parts are still available or not, I do not know.
 
Think they improved them part way through 1947 year. Because of part availability it may be best to locate a used one newer than that. Although you may find a early one upgraded.
Pullers remove them and may sell reasonable, or you should be able to find one reasonable.
Taking a chance on a used one being okay though.
If you have the old type with pump shaft bushings you may be able to increase the pressure by reducing the end clearance on the gears and a good fit on the shaft to bushings. That is if the gears are okay.
 
I don't know about the later M's having higher pressure belly pumps. I haven't tested the pressure on my 1950 M, and I don't know if it is the original belly pump (I assume it is) but the pressure on my M isn't great.

I had to change the cylinder on a 456 planter from a 2" to a 3" so it would lift it.
 
I thought some one on this sight had said there was
a difference between "EARLY" made belly pumps and "LATER" ones??? (Like saying the pumps on a 51 M is set up different than like a 44???? ) Might have just been the pressure reliefs???

I believe pumps that were "upgraded" at the dealer were marked with yellow paint on the pump body. I have seen several that way.
I "upgraded" the pump on my 1940 H using a milling machine & surface grinder to reduce the clearance between the gears and the bottom plate. It lifts the loader bucket much better now.
