Corn residue and IH 100 drills

Hello Everyone,
I have an odd question. This is my first year using a set of IH 100 press drills and the field I was able to rent was notill corn last year. Lots of residue was left from the prior renter. I have disked it once, but the residue still seems high. How much residue can those drills go through and still seed okay? I am hoping to not have to plow, but it may not be an option. Thanks!!!

It will plant thru some residue. I'd suggest disking the stalks
one more time at a different angle. Not only will this help break
up the stalks, but also help you see where you are at when
planting. I usually disk the stalks twice before I plant.

What may happen is that the residue will build up in a pile in front of the drill. Keep a good eye behind you and if you get plugging, just lift the drill for a second and then quickly drop it.
Try to plant when it's the heat of the day and as dry as you can

In addition to what the others said, a SLOW ground speed SHOULD help keep the disks in the ground more of the time as they work over or around residue.
