The tag has beeen missing for years. All the casting
codes indicate mid '53 ('Y').Engine has 106914D
stamped on the boss behind the oil filter. Is this a
replacement engine?Surely it's not the tractor
SN.The engine is a 264. What does it 'mean'?
Thanks,Steve

If that's the engine serial number. Located above the engine side cover where the vent outlet pipe part of the cover is? Or below # 3 spark plug.
Engine was installed in a tractor at farmall works in August of 1953. D means it came with what was called 5000 ft. pistons.
Tractor serial number would be in the 45500 area if put in a SM.

my thinkin--- its a reman--# should be behind dis or mag on a block--- might use acid to pull the #--a later post after yours shows the location-----I have a 400 with a reman eng it has a machine shop tag on side of eng----# is ground off front and moved behind oil filter ----my $.2

Time period that C-264 engine was built the engine serial number is located where I said.
