Good morning

I am looking at a 1939 A hand start it is stuck has good tin good rims everything is there mag and the tag also some lift mechanisim no cracks that i can see I know it will need a lot of work my question is how much to pay over scrap price

if the rear tires are shot I would offer 300 if they are good then its worth a little more maybe 400 to 500 keep in mind it will cost about 200 to rebuild the motor or could be a lot worse if its stuck real bad

I bought an A in 1975 that was stuck. I soaked the pistons with atf. It came with the 16-inch moldboard plow. Two of the pistons came using a piece of 2 x 2 oak and a big hammer. I used that piece of oak to drive out the wet sleeves. The last 2 the sleeves came with the pistons. I used an acetylene torch to heat the sleeves to free the stuck pistons. I used the old connecting rods with the new sleeve kit, back then it cost $80.00 and I pulled the engine and steam clean the block at work. I had the crankshaft polished as it wasn't worn much. I bought all the bearings from the auto machine shop. They were .002" undersize. I had the clutch disc relined to. It did a nice job plowing the garden.

I had to replace the front and rear rims, tires, fenders, wiring, steering wheel and seat. Hal
PS: I paid $100.00 for the tractor and plow.
