The WR9 on the trailer!

Things calmed down and I had another chance to get the WR9. 1948 model but I think it has '45 block; "O" on the casting. Haven't looked at the head yet. This one has the live hydraulics. On cutoffs but someone did a good job.

Hope you have more tounge wt.Looks like all/most the wt is behind the axles.Wont pull/'track' worth a damn that way-sway/weave horribly.....Hope you're not going far, cause you're gonna be going SLOW.Good luck, drive safe.......

Great looking beast love that big rubber and big rear fenders. We have a few 9 series I think a hand clutch would be cool like to find one to put on someday or just find a rice model 9. What a great project it looks complete

Look at the second pic near the tractors front tire, brake light. He has it backed on the trailer I believe.

Yes he does.

That's the FRONT of the trailer you see there. There's a truck in the background of the picture, hitched to the front of the trailer.

In your second photo this tractor appears to have disk brakes or is that just my imagination. If it does this could be WR9S which is quite rare.

Looks like cut-offs all the way around. I wonder if it was on steel originally?

With live hydraulics they usually had assisted power steering. This shows lever by left fender so must be hydraulic remote only.

We are backed on the trailer. With the big tires it's 8' outside to outside. Loading backwards let me get the C.G. in the right spot. Once it scrunched and rolled over the trailer tires I kept easing it back and watching the rear of the pickup until it was squatting just right. Pulled like a dream.

I looked closer and apparently it does have disc brakes! I'm not familiar enough with 9 series machines to know what swaps and what doesn't. Tag confirms it's a WR9, SN is 29930 which makes it a '48. Confirmed with an "R" casting date on rear case. However block has an "O" and I haven't looked on the head yet.

Looks like it's been in the field once or twice so could have farmer upgrades over the years.

No power steering; hydraulics only go to the rear remotes.

Still has the foot deccellerator. Brake pedals are made of stamped and welded sheet metal. Shifter is unusual too. The WD9 I brought in a couple of weeks ago had cast pedals and a more conventional shifter.

All of this is happening near Waco.

The later 9 series tractors all had the stamped & welded sheet metal brake pedals--I am not sure where the SN break was for those. The shifter isn't that unusual either. It is called a remote control gear shift and they were standard on the 9 series tractors with SN47256 and up....maybe optional before that. Almost all of the 9 series tractors in my area (Central Canada) have these features.

The disc brakes are interesting though......no mention of disc brakes in the parts manual for a WR-9, only band brakes. As far as I know, disc brakes only came on the WR-9S, Super WD-9, & Super WDR-9 which didn't come out until 1953. Disc & band brakes can't be swapped on a 9 series tractor due to the machining and drilling differences on the transmission housing that would be required to mount the disc brakes. Another possibility is that it may have gotten an entire transmission & differential swap from a newer tractor--but really unlikely (I have done it though--long story, I'll spare you the details).

9 series are new to me. They're just simply not found in this part of the country. I'll figure out more as I work on this thing. Thanks for the info.

If you are going to restore this tractor and need fenders, I make them, just finished a set and putting them on pallet headed for Florida. They should be the same, SW9R is what he has. Thanks, Bob.
