Fast Hitch Question.

I have a SC with fast hitch, which I have no
experience with or manuals on.I want to know if the
barbs on the hitch need to be lubricated with
something so that they slide into the hitch
easier,or is it designed to be operated dry.

Red has it correct and I worked with a 200 off and on from 1955 until the present. You might have to come up with some tie wires to hold the clamps down if you use the hitch a lot.

The only thing I would add is that the more you use it the smoother it is so slides in and out easier. Oil and grease with sand stuck in it is no longer a lubricant.

I assume that you are talking about the drawbar? My Super C came with the drawbar paint with a tan color enamel paint. I also painted my rotary mower hitch with some left over silver aluminum paint. The paint gets scratched up, put at least it slows up the rust.

The fit of the prongs into the sockets is pretty loose, so lubrication will not do any good.

If your drawbar is difficult to install/remove, you have one of two problems:

1. Rust/dirt buildup. Clean out the sockets and clean off the prongs.
2. Alignment. Something is bent/twisted, or you're not inserting it straight.
