Interesting front axle on an M Not for the purists.

Have been cutting down trees at a guys place off and on all winter. He has this M that was his dad"s. They put a farm truck axle under it back in the early 70"s so they could feed round bales more easily.
Thought some of you might find it interesting.

I would like to do somethinglike that to an H.and use a 4 wheel drive front axle.powered with a hydrylic motor.make it front wheel assist or like a mud hog drive on a combine.it really would be functional.just to make people scratch their heads at shows.
 
I've seen a couple of those.They will sure carry a load!Might be a bit tough to steer! One of the many Ms I've owned had a WD9 front on it.It was a real'witch' to steer.And of coarse my JD A with M wide front,and my F12 with a SC wide... Love those 'farmer mods'!!!!LOTS of character.
 
It might be easier to find a hydraulic assist combine rear axle, unless you really want something no one else has.
 
There was a Super C in town here with a front end like that except I remember it had leaf springs as well. It was odd looking, not sure if it is still around or not.

Curious about that myself. It would be nice to see some close-up photos of the whole thing.
 
Sorry, but those are the only photos I took. I'm done with that job now so will not be going back.
Didn't think to check how he had set up the steering.

No problem. I know there are other Ms out there with similar modifications. Maybe someone else can provide some pictures?
