Regarding the oil pressure gauge situation where the pressure line interfered with the back of the gauge and couldn't get the nut to seal the ferrule against the sealing surface in the brass connector I resolved the issue earlier today. As suggested by Janicholson I reduced the length of the tube beyond the ferrule by .22" so I could seal the brass connector and also the ferrule to the sealing surface in the connector. The original gauge had a larger opening on the back which permitted the tube to stick inside while the new replacement has a smaller opening which caused the interference and the small oil leak. All is well and without further obstacles I have started reinstalling the sheet metal to get this restoration completed. Thanks Jim for your suggestion as I also thought about opening the back side of the gauge knowing there would be the possibility of damage to the gauge, Hal.
