Model LB Hit and Miss

A student brought in a 1.5-2.5 HP Model LB hit and miss engine for my small gas engines class. He'd like to get it up and running again - it has sat for many years, and nobody seems to know much about it. It does have spark - so that's a good sign for sure. It looks pretty clean overall - some rust in the fuel tank, but otherwise it looks in decent shape.

I am totally unfamiliar with these things... Does anyone know of a good online source for info on these engines? Operation instructions, maintenance, etc. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any info!

I had one for a while a few years ago. I got my parts and manuals from Hit and Miss Enterprises in Orwell, OH. Its been quite a few years but I think they are still in business.

They are not a hit & miss. It is throttled with a governor controlling the throttle. Very simple. If it has compression, it will run. Clean the fuel system including the check valve in the tank gas line.

I just resurrected one and she is running fine. Give me a call if you want to talk about it. There are a couple of small tricks to get these old girls to run, but as others have posted, they are forgiving and will run surprisingly well. number is eight one four 439 one four five two.
