W-9 Throttle Lever/Engine Speed Control Lever

The throttle lever on my W-9 seemed too stiff, so I oiled it (be nice, now). Now, it won't hold its position in high speed. I figure I could spray brake cleaner in the areas I oiled, but wondered if there was a tension adjustment somewhere.

My owner's manual doesn't list this area as needing lubrication (again, be nice), nor does it mention adjusting the tension. The bolt on the end seems really tight, so I don't want to bear down on it. Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

If I remember right, there is a spring inside of the light colored casting that holds the lever. Removing the nut should let you remove the throttle lever and access the spring.

I have a similar situation with mine, but it will not hold minimum throttle.

Little more coming back in my memory. Seems there is a spring like I mentioned but at the other end, left end, there may have been some friction material. Slide the shaft to the left when you remove the nut and see what is over there.

it has a friction disc, as shown in your photo.
now since you oiled it, it has to come apart and clean that oil off with brake clean.
that bolt is rusted up but it has to come out. just work at it with some penetrating oil.
once apart clean it all up and reassemble and tighten to where u want it.
no oil on friction disc's.
