424 engine oil

I have misplaced my manual, what oil is used in the gas engine of a 424?

I always used 10W-40 in my 2424. Recently decided to use 5W-30 as almost all of my hours are spent in cold weather plowing snow and working in the woods. No problems so far, and I figure its easier on the engine when starting in the cold.

If you are using your tractor hard,I would use 30W heavy duty oil in the summer, and use 15W-40 in the the winter.

5-20, 5-30 are winter oils for gas engines. nowadays most new gas vehicles call for this oil year round.
15-40 is the standard summer diesel oil.

Most people use 15-40, I switched to it last summer. For cold weather starting use some kind of preheat, block heater or magnetic heater on the oil pan, I use both simultaneously.
