454 starter

Some times when I hit the key on my 454 international the starter just spins without engaging. Is this the bendix that is not working? Sometimes it cranks normal.

Remove and clean it could also need new cables but the starter needs to be refreshed.

My 2424 has been doing that consistently for 25 years. I figure one of these days it just won't engage at all - but that day has not come yet.
