Did the early f-20"s that used the same rear countershaft housing as the regular have a 4 speed transmission? I am looking at a duckbill f-20 and the shifting lever is bolted on with 2 bolts like the regular instead of 4 like the later f-20"s thank-you, phil

I have a 1934 F-20 with the regular style rear housing and yes, the shifter is held on with four bolts like the other F-20's I have. BT

Early 32's and the TA series had the regular rear axles without the foot rests. I had a 34 ducky and it had the normal style F-20 rearend. all F-20's should have a 4 speed with the applicable shifter

What is your serial #? You could have a scarce tractor as there was a few Duckbill Regular tractors built toward the end of production. Do you know for sure that it is a 1934 F20? Some of the early F20 tractors and TA F20 had Farmall regular rear housing with no steps but had 4 speed trans with 4 bolt shifter.

IHC never threw anything away. If they had almost enough pieces to make another tractor, they would cast pieces to complete the tractor. Hence, creating confusion 80 years later.
Look at the casting dates on the various pieces.
