in a pickle

Guys I'm restoring a farmall 340.diesel in remembrance of my papaw who just passed I accidentally cracked the steering hand pumps top housing.I've been looking for a month with every international dealer around and online.can anyone please come up with this part or maybe any info on fixing this?

Kris Spiegelhauer; sorry for your loss and glad to read you are doing this in remembrance of him.

Now....I hate to be the bearer of some sad info for you but, that pump is [b:1798e85a1c]very[/b:1798e85a1c] difficult to find. I searched for ~ three to four years and finally did what Mark Peters of Wisc. said I would have to do; 'get a donor tractor'. Calling salvage yards, etc. across the country turned up nothing. I trailered a Farmall 340 back from Michigan, having combined it with a trip to the LaPorte, Indiana Red Power Roundup. Part of the deal was getting a fast-hitch two bottom plow.

My suggestion, start lookin' as with spring approaching some folks may decide to part with some tractor(s). Especially if their wife-girlfriend isn't going to tolerate having a piece of iron occupy a spot under a roof if their vehicle(s) didn't; considering this past winter.

Post a free wanted text ad on this site, check out Tractor House (one word) dot com and the photo ads on this site also. Good luck with your project.

You could possibly find some skilled person who would think about brazing your part? Maybe you tried this already.

Don't know if this helps on craigslist a guy has a 340 for sale or parts in Zanesville IN. Phone 260-414-6727 his name is Dan

"Kris Spiegelhauer; I suggest you repost in order to hoefully get more folks attention. Be specific about the topic; forget about the pickle.

I would call Bates Corporation in Bourbon Indiana. They are not the most economical, but usually have a way of finding what you need. You will need the IH part number of what you are looking for.
