I'm getting ready change my oil in my C. Right now the oil pan is leaking around the seal (this is the first time i'm changing oil since I've own the tractor, I've owned it for 6 months). The previous owner put a new seal on the pan but i think he didn't tighten the bolts evenly. Whats a good torque number to use to make them all the same?

Never "torqued" an oil pan in my life.Make sure the gasket is intact/no breaks.Ues a BIT of silicone on the pan. Then starting in the middle and working out, evenly thighten(20/30? ft lbs) with the 'same' amount of snugness. After all, its only a 5/16" bolt,It wont take a lot of pressure

Be sure the pan gasket surface is straight; use a small amount of sealant and tighten carefully. Quit turning the wrench when the gasket JUST BEGINS to squeeze out from between the pan & block.

Don't over tighten a leaky pan can make a mess . I would take a minute and remove the oil pan to make sure that there aren't any obstructions dirt old gasket or bent pan
