Guys.....I have noticed that on the Super A the planter drive (on the final drive) is different from a 140. I sold the Super A and got this 140 and now have found a planter for it. I am wondering how I can attach the planter drive gear to my tractor because the Super A had an oil seal that came with the drive once removed from the final drive. My friend down the street has a 140 and it looks like to me that the seal is built into the final drive so when you remove the gear drive it won't work....basicaly you have to leave the round gear drive stub on the tractor? Did all 140 tractors come with the gear drive stub or did someone remove mine? No wonder oil is leaking there!

I have two 140s. One just has a cover over the LF final drive.
The other has the seal and the stub shaft. The planter drive
cog just fastens to the stub shaft with a large cotter pin. I
suppose that stub shaft and seal was optional based on the
equipment used on the tractor. And...yes, mine leaks too. I
believe seal is just pressed in and can be replaced, but that is
somewhere down my list of things to do.

That is what I am saying.....can one just take that stub out of the other tractor and put in a tractor that has a cover on it? What would I do about the tractor where I removed the stub to keep it from leaking? Would the tractor that had the cover on it have a seal inside?
