Regular serial numbers ??

hi is it true that the Regulars had the serial number stamped on the frame; left side below the block serial number? And that these numbers should match on a factory issue machine?
If true, does this add any extra value for collecting?
thanks

the F series Guide book states that IH documents claim no attempt was made to match chassis and frame numbers on the Farmall reg. although some have been found that match. Early models had the number stamped on the left frame rail by the radiator and later models were stamped on the rail by the clutch housing.

Wasn't a for sure deal from the factory, but all and all, they had a tendency to match. MY serial number plate, frame rail, and engine all have matching numbers on my F-20. Don't really add alot of significant value if they all match because alot of them did. But now if they don't, and they are way off, like indicating different years or aren't even close, then that is telling me that the tractor has been peiced together after production. Such as 2 or 3 tractors put together to make one. Which happened alot because of interchangeability with the parts. In that case, it might decrease a little in value because originality.
