bad gov on H?

last sunday I bough a h that has not run in 2 yrs. I got it running last night and its not right. its running to fast about 1000 rpm not much change when moveing the throttle lever to idle mabe 50 rpm. all linkage hooked up and every thing is moving when I run the lever. ive looked in side the gov and all looks ok ( big spring lose when it on idle) you guy have any ideas? thanks Bob

Have you had the carb off - missing that linkage to the governors will do what you are saying.I've had pins fall out of my governors on my H before so make sure everything is attached correctly.

Is the throttle plate bound up?

thanks guys for the help. it turns out that the tube from the gov to the carb was not alined and was putting a bind on the inside throttle shaft. ( it was like that from the last owner. thats one reason he sold it. ) now it runs like a champ. thanks Bob
