4156 vs 1486

I have a chance to buy a 4156 just to play around with, it may pull a small scraper, 6 - 9 yards. My question is how do they compare to the 1486 pulling wise or even a (may I say it) 5020. I have never been near one and the 23.1 x 26's scare me a bit, I have had JD's with these tires. I also do not know much about driving one and shifting, any thing to shift easily on the fly. And is there much volume and pressure to the hydraulics.

the 4100,4165,4166 all were known for problems with the steering linkage. The link that controls the 2-4 wheel steer will bend. Then it will drive like a drunken camel.

218 of them made. Most parts are probably OK from other models, but steering and transfer components may be tough to find. ( yards is a pretty good sized scraper). Jim
