woods mower

Just bought a woods cadet 72 mower at auction today. Checked the blades and they are super lose so lost to were you can move them in a circle and touch the other blade. Check the adjustment pins but but don't no wat to do from there

There are no belt driven mowers with blades that can touch. So if these touch they are the wrong blades. The overlap is done by forward and back offset. Jim

this mower is a pull type and I would have thought that the blade would touch and you can pick the blade up and it has lot of play in it when you move it up and down

Never mind the former comments, the link below is for a PDF of the manual for your mower. The blades pivot on the central blade arm and should be free to move. Centrifugal force allows them to swing outward and cut. Page 14 is instructive.
If the blade pin (part 1) or the blade (part 2) are worn to the point that the blade could come off, it needs to be replaced. generally they are pretty loose. Jim

Sure. they are designed to be able to hit a 3" cherry stump and bounce off of it with no gear box damage. They never hit each other because the swinging forces on them are tremendous. They look normal to me. Down load the manual I found for you and you will be reassured. Jim
