A good friend of mine was in the shop today and said that he had an H Farmall with a strange serial number. The serial number of the tractor that he gave me was X1X11. He said that part of the tractor was white and it had a factory two speed transmission. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little more about this tractor. I tried to search for it in google but didn't come up with anything. If someone could help me identify this tractor I would greatly appreciate it.

Two speed systems were made as aftermarket devices Heisler, and M&W are two names.
The White paint and serial number items are either bogus, or important. Google History of the Torque Amplifier. Get pictures and we will assist with the mystery. Jim

You can paint any color you want and like other post says it must have an overdrive as the serial # something isnt correct.

IH did not install the 2 speed, as Jim said it is one of the two aftermarket products. Also IH did not use the X1X11 notation. X1 means gasoline engine, X11 means undersized crankshaft. If it has those it will be listed as X plus some other number or number and letter, ie only one X. Someone explain why IH would put a undersized crankshaft in a new tractor? The X- is a suffix to 3-6 numbers for the serial.

He might check, the "H" serial number is on the aluminum plate on left side, but it"s also on a raised boss just under the No. 1 spark plug, stamped in with steel dies.
