I NEED THE HYD PUMP CONNECTOR FROM PUMP TO CRANK PULLEY ON A IHC 284 TRACTOR.THE DISC THAT BOLTS TO THE CRANK PULLEY HAS A SMALL SQUARE RECEIVER IN THE CENTER AND ALSO THE PIPE THAT HAS THE SQUARE MALE INSERT THAT GOES INTO THE RECEIVER. ANY ONE HAVE ONE OR KNOW WHERE I CAN LOCATE ONE. THANKS. BOB

Bob, 284 gas or diesel ? I looked up part on Messick' website and found what I think you want but listing only for gas ? Would think part would be same for either engine ? Appears both parts available but pricey. Maybe you already know that and are looking for used ? Let me know and will be glad to do more research.

Bill This part has failed 2 or 3 times since I bought the tractor new .I have welded and repaired it each time. I would like to find a good used one but may consider a new one as last resort. Our IHC dealer is small and in a very small town. He has never had a 284 and if I remember right his books doesn't even list a 284. Any thing you can find would be appreciated. I have a small 26 hp Yanmar with loader that I can use to garden with but I really like the 284 and would like to keep it working. Thanks for responding. Bob

Bob, First lets make sure I am looking up correct part for you.

Go to www.messicks.com; enter 284 and then search ;3 choices will comeup , choose 284 International Tractor ;click 07, Hydraulics ;click on 10-18 Hyd Pump Drive.

Then you should see coupling and drive illustration. Item 17 shaft is one item I think you need. New number, item 17.1 is 1002780C4 $443.39. Another choice for item 17.1 is 7430177R2 $137.33, for tractor w/power steering.

Item 21 is coupling 1002779C3 $206.36

So if those are items you need, pricey, but when I run into this I am at least glad they are still available.

Finding these parts used would be similar to hunting for hen's teeth ☺ If I have looked at correct parts let me know and I do have a couple contacts that I will gladly check for used.

I am puzzled that it only lists Gas engine in choice of Hyd Pump Drive.? I would guess if gas or diesel these parts would be the same ?

Bill I forgot to say mine is a gas. I looked up the parts diagram that you stated and the parts number is 17 for shaft and 21 for coupling. Both part # are the same-10027.I am 75 and pretty dumb when it comes to computers but I can't find the prices. Thanks again . Bob

Bob, No need to apologize about your age or computer skills. I am 73 and forced to use computers as I worked full time in parts until I was 72.

I think you need to go to bottom of diagram of picture of parts and use the bar to slide the picture to your left. This hopefully will show the rest of the part number and the price.

Bill I guess I will weld and grind till I can get a fit rather than paying 649.75 total for the parts. Sure wish I could locate some good used parts. Thanks for helping me on this. Bob

Bob, Can't blame you. Remember alignment is critical on this drive. Back to the parts diagram, make sure rubber bushings are good in item #13 coupling. Also note item #7 shims under mounting plate.

I did a search and item #21 coupler does show that Great Lakes Equipment 1-800-634-0084 may have one. You might call and check their price . No luck on shaft so far. If they have coupler reasonable that would be one less part to rebuild.

Good luck and would be interested in where you are from ? I am located in Springfield, OH near the INTERNATIONAL Truck Plant. Bill

Forgot to mention if you call Great Lakes Equip., they list that coupler as 1002779C4. Same thing just an updated part number.
