1086 hard starting

Our 1086 has a hard time starting unless it is over 65 degrees or you have to use ether. Runs fine once it is running and will start right back up if you shut it off. I put the throttle up before I start it. Anybody have any history with this?

First easy thing to check is the condition of the sleeve seals on the steel lines between the filter base and the charge pump on the injection pump. Could be air ingress after shutdown causing a loss of prime.

I think I got it fixed. The static timing was off a little bit. I re-aligned it and it fired right up and didn't have any white smoke! It use to blow smoke for 15 minutes before it would clear up. Thanks for the feed back.
