MTA rear axle bearing question

when installing the outer rear axle bearing, does the exposed roller bearing side face toward the outside or inside. The old one that was removed had the exposed roller bearing facing the outside. The picture of the new bearing shows the exposed roller bearing side.

Exposed to outside so grease from the grease fitting on the axle cap goes in the bearing.

Open side should face toward the grease zerk, which would be the outside.
