c113 valve seats

Can you replace the valve seats on a farmall 113 engine head? Does this require a machine shop?

I've had it done. A machine shop did it for me.

It has to be machined out at the proper size for an insert to be pressed in. A job for your local shop.

yes machine shop, as its not only the valve seats . there is valve guide installation, valve and seat re faceing and head planning, spring pressure check. all this is done with machine shop equipment that the average person can not afford, nor have the knowhow on operation of them or even to read a micrometer.

The seats in the head were originally machined into the cast. In order to install a new or hardened seat, this must be cut to accept the seats.

You may have seat and valve grinding equipment at home as I do, but you cannot put seats in without the correct cutter.

if your in central PA , i have the tools & know how to replace them seats cheaper then the shop will , just added a new cutter needed for them to my kit , them tools are not cheap for the (do it your selfer), bet the shop will charge $30 each seat they cut out + a flat basic rebuild charge on top of that for valve & seat grinding ,+ parts, ect, I have commercial grade seat cutting set , valve & seat grinders , also some guide knurling tools , to save on guide replacment , head rebuilding was my job for years in the shop , e-mail open if interested
