Value of a '66 Farmall 806 diesel

Hi guys, I'm looking at a 1966 Farmall 806 diesel. It has 7300 hours on a working tach. The engine runs decent, but has blow by. The rear 18.6/38 tires hold air but are weather cracked. It has been converted to 56 series shifting. The t/a works and doesn't slip. Dual pto and has a Hinson weather guard cab. What is a realistic price to pay for it. Thanks.

You say it has blowby. How does it start? If it starts hard its gettin tired if it starts ok I wouldn't worry about the blowby.Keep in mind to properly o/h a 361 will be any where from $5000+ in my neck of the woods any how.Figure atleast 1500 fo tires. Here I would say $2500 max if it starts hard and $6000+or- if it starts ok.It also depends on what work you can do yourself.Thats my opinion from my area and what I buy them for.

Thanks for the replays. It actually started prettying good. It seemed snappy when going from idle to full throttle. Just don't like the blowby. :(

I agree. A really good 806 can be had for $7000 or $8000. If there is even a chance it might need an overhaul soon $2500 would be about it. If you paid $2500, plus another $4000 to overhaul it, plus $1500 for tires you are at or above the going price for a really nice 806. For me personally, the Hinson cab would make it worth less to me unless it had flat top fenders along with the cab. If it starts easy I still think I would have a hard time paying more than $4500 maybe $5000 tops.
