I"m redoing a 1950 Cub and after cleaning the pistons, I noticed the tops stamped 1-4 and one with an A, one with a C, one with a D, and one with an E. Do they stand for the over bore sizes?

The letters stamped on the pistons were marked during assembly at the factory. The cylinders were first measured, and the corresponding pistons were installed that would most closely match the cylinder. They are not oversized.
