super A steering

Not as in a screw and jamb nut.
Looseness is found in three places caused by lubricant leaking out.
The ball bearing at the far end of the worm under the cap, can be worn and allowing the shaft to either screw in and out (it should not move in and out of the box), or it allows the worm to be displaced sideways away from the sector gear making slop.
Second is the bearings in the sector/steering shaft (vertical shaft with arm underneath). These wear (especially the top bushing) and allow dramatic slop as the top of the shaft moves when effort is applied.
the third (common) is a bad Keyway in the arm to shaft. These frequently get wallowed out and allow 1/2 turn in the wheel of freeplay.
New bearings and bushings are usually the solution for the first two, and re machining the shaft and arm for a bigger woodruf key is the solution for the last. Jim

Jus like oer post says tear it down and replace worn parts several places that can be worn but if you do a good replacement of bearings, seals and bushings you will have new steering again.
