Will a wide front from a 400 fit a 300? Neighbor wants to put his 400 wide front on the 300. I don't know if they interchange.

In a word, no. Sell the 400 wide front and buy one for specifically for a 300. If you find the right guy, you may be able to trade straight across.

Thanks guys, He asked a local "expert" and he said it was a direct swap. I didn't think so. So I thought I would ask the real experts.

It might, depends on who manufactured the wide front. Schwartz mounting brackets were drilled with both bolt patterns, at least the one on my Super H is.

If its the standard IH for a 400 and complete with wheel hubs. Two parts keep it from being a bolt on. One is the steering arm that bolts to the tractor steering shaft and the other is the rear wishbone support that bolts to the frame rails. If the price and condition is good and just wanting to use it, the steering arm holes can be modified and a welder with fab skills can make the rear bracket. Or shorten the bracket and weld 3/8 or 1/2 angle iron to each side to get the right width and height. Or find those two parts for a 300.
