Reassemly of H front bolster

I have my front bolster apart for my 1941 Farmall H and now I cannot remember how to assemble around the thrust bearing. I have new bushings put in with a new thrust bearing. I have two pieces that are used for the felt washer but I can't remember if the flat piece went under or on top of the thrust bearing. The cone piece that holds the felt washer I know goes on top of everything. Please help me get this figured out. Thank you Brad

Unless its replaced a 41 model used a different bearing and no spacer like later tractors. If you have a spacer it goes on the shaft first then the bearing, felt and felt retainer.

Was the upper pivot shaft different or the entire bolster in the 41 models? There is a spacer but I do not recall where I removed it from. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow and upload them for better reference. Thank you Brad

Both were different, but the shaft that used the later parts was used as a replacement in the 41 bolster. First run into that on a 41 model used on the farm, but that's 40 some years ago the steering was worked on. Cant remember now what the difference was in the shafts.

I purchased the thrust bearing for the older style pivot shaft and it seems that somebody in the last 73 years has swapped out with the new style. Good thing I have access to a bigger lathe and was able to turn the newer shaft to the old dimensions and will be able to use my thrust bearing. The spacer goes under the thrust bearing then the felt washer and retainer goes on top of it. Hopefully I can get this thing together tomorrow. Brad
