Lubricant in the Governor?

I assume the unit just down from and to the right of the coil is the governor (showing my ignorance here). There is a fill cap on the housing which means (to me), some lubrication goes in at this point.

I can't find any documentation that tells me what (or how much) lubricant to use.

Thanks in advance for guidance here.

that cap is for the engine oil. the governor is close to the carburetor & connected to it by some type of linkage, it is probably lubricated by the engine oil. someone who knows that specific model will chime in with details

Yes. And before you go much further, you oughta get an owner's manual and an I&T manual. eBay, or many other suorces. Nice tractor.

THat is the governor, it is on this side, and the cap is the engine oil fill cap. Engine oil goes in there when needed, or when doing an oil change.
I cannot see to point it out, but there should be a dipstick. If not there are petcocks on the oil pan to check the level. 15-40 diesel oil is great, as is 10-40 car oil. The hydraulic system uses hytran fluid today (called for in the book is 10 wt non detergent motor oil, it is not as good for the application as Hytran, the engine oil called for is also a straight wt., go with my recommendation) the oil has had massive improvements since the original manual was produced. As FBH44 indicates a manual is great, they can be found here on this site to the left at the top. Jim

It is an engine oil filler. The Super A did not originally have that cap, so not shown in the Super A manual. It was added to the C-123 engines for the 140 and 240 tractors. The Super A filler was the crankcase vent on top of the engine. You can use either opening to add oil.

Thank you all for chiming in here.

The manuals I ordered finally came yesterday (operators, shop, parts and special attachments). They are for the Super A (and AV). As stated in one of the above replies, the Super A manuals do not have information about that cap.

There is a dip stick and the petcocks in the pan.

The manual I have does say to use the crankcase vent in the valve cover (which I had) to change oil.

I appreciate all your help and generosity....
