Farmall 300 utility hydraulic lines

The hard hydraulic lines on my 300 utility are leaking (the top high pressure line). They"ve been brazed before and it was a poor job by whoever did it. I can have them re-brazed I suppose (I"m no welder). But I"m more interested in replacing them with hydraulic hoses. Has anyone done this? How involved was it? Can you send photos?

I would try to keep the hard lines. If you cant have them fixed or find good used ones take them to a good hydraulic shop they can make new ones.

For restoration I would prefer good used original lines, however, gates make some really good fittings(sure other mfg.too)that will let you change to a 2 wire hyd.hose. 90's,45's etc...
They even have a compression fitting that changes from a steel to a rubber line,in the event you have a real odd fitting.Just cut the steel line in a good straight place behind the fitting & go.I have made lots of these back in the day. A Industrial hyd. supplier would be a good place to start.Good Luck

(quoted from post at 11:44:52 02/21/14) I searched eBay, called this site, OEM... no luck. Anyone else I should try?

This site and OEM do not deal in used parts.

Ebay is constantly changing so you can't just search once and give up.

No matter what you do, you will have to braze something. Whether you braze the tube again, or braze fittings on to the cutoff tubes to adapt to hoses, you will need to have brazing done.

Unless the tubes are in such awful shape that they will just end up being solid braze, you should fix the ones you have and look for a good used set in the meantime.

YES. I actually found good used 300 parts on Craigslist and those I did not get there were readily supplied in response to a classified ad on this site. One of my favorite ways of finding what I need is by asking the folks here to look in their barns if see if they have it.

On later 350 tractors they started using rubber sections near the pump. Also made packages to convert 300 and 350 with solid lines to the later type to help with vibration.
One option for you is to get the pump manifold for the flex line section to mount on your pump.
For the rear get a threaded block like a 350-U diesel used, also found on some other IH stuff that bolts in place of the lines. You can then run hose between front and rear.
Manifold that goes on pump used a one inch slip on hose with clamp. Pressure side has threads that a hydraulic hose shop will have fittings to fit.

Take the old metal lines to a hydraulic shop that makes hydraulic hoses. We have Colliflower near us in MD. If they're not busy they will make them while you wait. The hoses will withstand the vibration better than steel lines. Hal
