Louisville Tractors

They built Cubs,Cub Cadets, Super A`s,100,130 ,140,C, Super C, 200,230,240,404,Assembled skidded International 424 chassis from England. There were more, just don`t remember all of them.
 
Our Ag class toured the plant back in the 60"s. I enjoyed the foundry most of all. I think they made everything but the tires and lubricants.
 
Is there any way to tell which ones where built there. I know the A's and Super M's had different serial numbers but what about the rest of them.
 
Now here is a question. I have been told by people that IH did not make the cub transmissions. They tell me that Ford made them. Now...How much of this is fact or fiction? Thanks. Jeffcat
 
You hear a lot of things, need to keep your BS filter on. Jeeps of the day used a Borg-Warner transmission that had synchro second and third. Pretty obvious the only thing shared with a Cub transmission was the 90 weight gear oil.

The Louisville foundry wasn't opened until 1949. Prior to that all castings came from another source (depending on the part, it could have been another IH foundry or an outside supplier).

IH always bought some parts from the outside. It was mostly common parts from specialized suppliers (fans, electrical, air cleaners etc.)
