IH 544 Shuttle shift

How many speeds does a 544 shuttle shift have?Any help appreciated.

Assuming you mean the gear drive shuttle, it has five forward and five reverse speeds. The shuttle mechanism replaces the TA.

I have a 504U shuttle and it is a four speed,,had a 460 shuttle and it was a four speed(the shifter will move like a five speed but one hole is a nothing)

I could only find three speeds Shifter would go to a fourth position but nothing there. Maybe linkage problem?

I don"t have a shuttle 544 but the published specs say five speed (road gear in reverse!!) Could be the linkage: the 544 linkage is rather complex.

Did anyone sell an aftermarket shuttle conversion?

I have a 544 with what IH called a direction reverser, I think this is what you are asking about. Yes 5 forward and 5 reverse, reverse is prolly 15% faster than forward. It does replace the ta and there is no reverse gear in the trans. The left shift lever (usually ta shifter) Is forward-reverse. The right shifter shift pattern is shifter all the way left and forward in nothing (where reverse normally is), all the way left and back is 1st, center shift gate and forward is 2nd, center gate and back 3rd, far right gate and forward 4th, far right gate and back 5th. Hope this helps!
