Help with an F-12

I just recently purchased an F-12 on steel at a very good price. The PO had taken a lot of parts off and I came home with a tractor and a truck full of parts. Does anyone have a copy of how to put one of these together and work on it in pdf or another online format? Does anyone have a hardcopy they wish to send me / sell me or know where I can find one?

I would also accept any advice on undertaking my first major overhaul / restoration project.

I'll post pictures tomorrow! Thanks guys!

Congratulations on your purchase. The F-12 is a very simple tractor to work on, by it's design. There's just not that many parts and pieces. Absolute first thing, click on this link and order the Owner's Manual, Parts Book and the I&T or Blue Ribbon Service Manual. Nothing beats having the access to parts information and pictures when you need it. Be forewarned though, these were printed 80 years ago and lack some detail. Still should get you going in the right direction.

Agree with DC! Dead simple tractor to work on. If you get in a bind on something, you can always post pics and someone here can help. I will add, the carb can be finicky, and it has to be timed dead on to hand crank, but are a very fun little tractor to drive.

" taken a lot of parts off" ... like? have no idea what you are referring to. could be head off, to completely stripped frame.

Buy the books!!!There are lots of places to buy parts.Parts are readily available.I have several parts tractors, there still 1000s of them out there.Ask lots of guestions,we are here to help. But do your 'homework' first, find out all you can about your new tractor.

Valve cover, head, manifold, tank, radiator, seat, lots of rods and pieces of metal. The block and steering was still intact.

The fuel pump was in pieces and will at least need a kit, if not a completely new fuel pump. Also, he couldn't find the carb, but told me he'd call me when he did to get my address and mail it to me. I have no idea what condition that will be in. Also, the exhaust pipe was in very poor condition and will need to be replaced, but I found one I can purchase new already.

Wolf, theres a lot of advice on this forum,I actually collect and love these F12&14.I would love to talk to you and help if I can.Im working on one now.And I always buy parts tractors and make them run.Im far from a expert but I can find my way around one. These tractors are very simple and very forgiving. The carb.,fuel pump, mag, and timing is very critical

Congrats on the new toy. I own at least one of each of the 12 series. I don't think that makes me an expert but I have learned a thing or two. These tractors are fairly simple and forgiving to work on. They are easy to haul but steel can be tricky to load. I recommend a winch, much safer! The original parts manuals don't help much with assembly, no exploded views. I&T and the IH Blue Ribbon service manuals are a great help. If I can assist please let me know. Good luck, Mark
