I ran across an original L120 pickup. It runs and drives but needs TLC. Body is great, and it appears to be complete. The brakes are not working. Can anyone shed a little light on these old trucks? Anyone have one, or have had in the past? I may end up buying it, as the price is right.

They were a good truck. I had 1/2 T, in the late 50's. The only problem I had were that parts were hard to get and exp, even from their truck centers. Had to order most everything. Most independent parts suppliers did not stock parts for IH trucks back then.

I had bought a used one in 1963 when I started farming and used it as a pickup. It was impossible to kill, tough like you can't believe, I drove it 55 mph + forever and finally sold it when I became a bit more affluent.
Wish I would have kept it. Parts still available at www.soutlandit.com

My plan if I buy it is to restore it and paint it like a 50s IH dealership pickup. Find or make a tiltbed trailer for it, and load up a 50s era IH tractor and take to shows, parades, etc. I think that would be a real head turner.
