Gas engines for 3XX and 4XX tractors turn clockwise at the face of the glass. (CCW if looking at the attachment point of the cable to the meter. Jim

thanks bought a old non working one for the mounting bracket and it turns ccw but the new ones i have seen turn cw had me wondering i think it may have been for a different motor thanks again bill

Bill, Tachometers for IH 300, 400, 600, series tractors turn clockwise for gas models and CCW for diesel models. If the RPM "0" mark is on the right, it is a gas tach. If the "0" RPM mark is on the left, it is from a diesel motor. I attached pictures from my 350 gas and my 650 diesel so you can see the difference. Hope this helps to determine which type of tach you have. Al
